Batten Down The Hatches!!

There's a hurricane a comin'!!! Ohpelia is making its way westward towards the South Carolina coast and we are trying to be smart about our preparations for the storm. It's interesting living near the coast. After watching the absolute decimation of the Gulf Coast, it's hard to not take this storm seriously. We make comments about the people who didn't evacuate and how silly we think they were for sticking around, but then when we hear about this storm, it's hard to know what to do. They say it could be anything from a 1 to a 3 in the categories. We've always said we'd high tail it out of here with a two or higher, but it depends on where they think this thing will hit. We've already been to Wal-Mart and picked up a few essential items, water, canned goods, ramen noodles and of course, bug spray! We are having the debate about a generator, even if it means we just keep the fridge going. Who knows. I don't really care if we lose the house, it's replacable. I just don't want to put our lives in danger. So please know that we will always error on the side of caution. It's nice having Matt Elliott on the police force. He's been giving us the inside scoop of the emergency preparations. There will be evacuations east side of highway 17 (for those of you who have never been, that is nearest to the ocean, we leave on the west side of it). There are no plans of evacuations for the west side yet, but Matt is letting us know. Keep us in your prayers. I don't think we will be anywhere NEAR the condition of New Orleans or Mississippi, but with little kids, it's all harder. If anything drastic happens, keep your phone lines open, because we might be coming to stay with you! If we're lucky, we'll have nothing to report. I am praying that is the case. Hugs and kisses!!
